Lesotho Build Project 2010 - Recruiting

ACARA are recruiting for the Lesotho Build Project 2010

The Ask:

ACARA Action Projects are currently looking for both skilled tradesmen/women and non skilled people to undertake the “Lesotho Build Project Challenge”.

The Challenge:

ACARA have initially committed to a 5 year plan to provide funding to assist in the education and safety of the children of Lesotho by providing some of life’s basic requirements:

1. To build safe houses for orphans at high risk and for children both infected and affected by HIV/Aids. There is approx.180, 000 orphans in Lesotho. A large percentage of these are orphaned due to HIV/Aids. The government want to try to keep these children within their communities rather than institutionalising them. The halfway houses will enable the children to learn life skills, how to work the land and attend their local school, while in a safe environment.

2. To fill and ship a container with clothing, footwear, toys, bedding, school supplies, medical supplies. These will then be distributed to as many orphanages, village’s and homes as possible.

The Brief:
The second ACARA “Lesotho Build Project Challenge” will take place from the 9th March – 26th March 2010.

Phase 1: To bring a minimum of 35 participants to the Butha – Buthe Region in the North of the country to help build the second ACARA Safe House in Lesotho.

Phase 2: To provide keyhole vegetable gardens and a play area for the children from the local communities.

Phase 3: To fund the building of toilets for the ACARA School Project in Phoku Village School.

All participants will get the opportunity to visit Phoku Village to see at first hand where their funds are being spent and have the opportunity to meet the local people.

It will be 18 days of hard but rewarding work. An amazing experience!
