Lesotho Build Project 2010

ACARA Action Projects, launch the Lesotho Build Project 2010 in Cork City Gaol – September 26th 2009

We would also like to thank the Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr. Dara Murphy, Lady Mayoress Tanya Murphy, Minister for Foreign Affairs Michael Martin TD and The Lesotho Ambassador to Ireland, Mannete Ramaili for giving their time so generously to us on the night.
After the speeches and video showing, guests were served “Pig on a Spit” while they were entertained by singer Kenneth Speight
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported us on Saturday night in the Cork City Gaol.  It was a wonderful evening.  The Management and Staff of the Gaol were just amazing and we have to thank Nuala and Sean Cotter for makeing it happen because without them it would never have happened.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The ACARA Lesotho Build Project, founded by two Irish women, was established to build and facilitate the construction of Safe Houses, Schools and Medical Posts in Lesotho, Southern Africa.  Lesotho is an independent country totally landlocked by South Africa and is one of the 6 poorest African Countries. There are over 180,000 orphans in Lesotho.

In October 2008 the first ever Safe House in the country of Lesotho was built by 60 Irish Volunteers in just 14 days.

The ACARA House is a “Safe House” for vulnerable children who have been orphaned, in many cases through HIV / Aids. This facility enables the children to attend local schools, learn life skills, help them integrate within their community and lead a normal life like every child deserves.

The ACARA House is committed to helping the children build their self esteem and prepare them for life while in a safe environment.

The next Lesotho Build Project is taking place from 9th – 26th March 2010
